Activity data not syncing (Apple Devices)

If your activity data from your Apple Watch, iPhone (with the built-in pedometer) and other Apple Health synced devices are not syncing to your Converge App, this guide will help you troubleshoot and resolve any syncing issues.


Ensure background App refresh is enabled

The Converge Application can only sync data in real-time if Background App refresh is enabled. Without Background App refresh enabled, your Converge App will only sync data from your devices like Apple Watch or iPhone’s built in pedometer when you open the Converge App.

The Converge App will only run in the background to process Activity data for the Move challenge and wellbeing features, so if you are keen to be the #1 group, during the Move challenge, keep Background App refresh active for the Converge App.

How to enable background App refresh (and how to check if it’s on)

  1. On your iPhone, open the Settings App

  2. Scroll down and tap “General”

  3. On the next screen, scroll down and tap “Background App Refresh”

  4. At the top, tap “Background App Refresh” and make sure this is “On” - you can have it enabled over Wi-Fi only or Wi-Fi & Mobile Data for more frequent updating

  5. Tap back to return to the Background App refresh screen

  6. Scroll down and find Converge, then make sure this is “On”


Check Health Data from Apple Health is syncing to Converge

If your activity and/or Health data is not syncing to the Converge App (for example you are missing steps from your device), you may need to enable or re-enable data sharing from the Apple Health App.

Check the Health App

The Apple Health App manages and controls access to your activity data collected from Apple Watch, iPhone and other connected devices. Permissions for accessing this data is controlled by you in the Health App.

  1. On your iPhone, open the “Health” App; if you can’t find it, scroll to the last home page (swipe to the right) and search for it or re-download it from the Apple App Store

  2. In the Health App, tap “Sharing” from the bottom menu

  3. Scroll down to “Apps and Services”

  4. Look for Converge and tap it

  5. Make sure all options are turned on

If you don’t want to share all data, but still want to participate in Move Challenges, make sure at minimum you enable Exercise, Stand Hours and Steps from the “Allow Converge to Read” section.
