If your activity data from your Apple Watch, iPhone (built in pedometer) or third-party device connected to Apple Health (like Garmin, Strava, Coros etc) is not syncing data, you may need to review some of your Apple Health and Privacy settings. This guide will help you review these options.

Review each section of this guide and cross check it with your device.

Check Apple Health data sharing permissions

The Converge App relies on data provided by Apple Health - this section of the guide will help you check Apple Health data sharing permissions which may have some restrictions preventing data sharing.

  1. Open the Apple Health App (Health) (blue star) . If you can’t find it, go to the App Store and search for Health to re-download it

  2. In the Health App, tap the “Sharing” tab from the bottom menu

  3. Scroll down and tap “Apps and Services”

  4. From the list of Apps and Services, tap “Converge”

  5. On the permissions page for Converge, either tap “Turn on all” or if you only want to share some data, ensure at minimum you’ve selected “Activity”, “Steps”, “Stand hours” to ensure your data is included for the Move challenge.

Check Motion & Fitness privacy options

If you are using your iPhone as a pedometer, you’ll need to make sure your iPhone has permission to collect motion data. You may have turned off this feature in the past, which in-turn prevents iPhone from sharing steps data to the Health app and Converge App.

  1. On your iPhone, open the Settings App

  2. Scroll down to and tap “Privacy and Security” or “Privacy”

  3. Scroll down to and tap “Motion & Fitness”

  4. Ensure (blue star) Health is turned on

Check the Converge App has syncing to Apple Health on

  1. Open the Converge International App

  2. Tap “Profile”

  3. Tap “Settings”

  4. Tap “Health App”

  5. Check that “(blue star) iPhone | (blue star) Watch” is connected- it should say “Disconnect” next to it if it’s connected - if not, tap to connect. If you see Apple Health (blue star) instead, tap that to connect.

  6. Tap “Next” to save these changes

Check that the Converge App can run in the background

The Converge International App needs permission to run in the background to process activity and steps data collected from Apple Health and third-party trackers (like Fitbit, Garmin, Apple Watch, the iPhone’s built in pedometer).

  1. On your iPhone, open the “Settings” app

  2. Scroll down to and tap “General”

  3. Scroll down to and tap “Background App Refresh”

  4. Check that Background App refresh is “On”

If you want to continue to use the Converge App for non-fitness and wellbeing features, but no longer want to sync Apple Health data

You can turn off Apple Health sharing from the Converge International App by following these steps:

  2. Tap “Profile”

  3. “Tap Settings”

  4. Tap “Health App”

  1. Launch the Apple Health App (may be shown as “Health” on your iPhone)

  2. Tap “Sharing” from the menu at the bottom of the app

  3. Scroll down and tap “Apps and Services”

  4. Tap “Converge” from the list of Apps and Services which has access to Health data

  5. Turn off data you don’t want the Converge International App to access or write to Health

Note, if you turn off “Activity” and/or “Steps” from the options shown, it may affect your ability to participate in Move challenges and activities in the Converge App.

You can always turn these features on during Move challenges and then turn it off after a move challenge has ended if you are conscious about data sharing.
