Teams and Zoom modalities explained
When rebooking an existing client for a video call appointment, you are presented with two options - Zoom and Microsoft Teams.
Microsoft Teams is the preferred teleconferencing app for Video Calls or Online Audio calls. If you select Zoom and there is a failure before or during the call, Converge may not be able to provide reimbursement to you (the Consultant) for that session.
Microsoft Teams
Microsoft Teams - If you select Microsoft teams, both you and the client will receive an automatically generated meeting link which is accessible from the booking confirmation email sent to you and the client.
Make sure you select “Yes” for send client notifications option when booking your clients' appointment - this means Converge will send the meeting link to both you and the client.
When accessing a Microsoft teams link, neither party needs to install or sign into Microsoft Teams. You can join the meeting via your preferred web-browser. When you click the meeting link, you’ll be presented with the below options (see image below)
MS Teams calls can be joined by either party on a web-browser. Teams is compatible with Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge on both Mac and PC - it’s not currently compatible with Safari or Firefox.
If you or the client has Microsoft Teams app installed and/or has a Teams account and wants to join using this, click “Join on the Teams app” after clicking the meeting link, otherwise select “Continue on this browser”.
Microsoft Teams FAQ:
If your client wants to join via their smartphone
If your client wants to join your call on their smartphone, they can join but will need to download the Microsoft Teams app from the App Store (free). They won't need an account to join but will need the app installed. The app is not required if they join via their computer.
Do you need Microsoft Teams installed on your computer?
No, you and the client don’t need Microsoft Teams installed on your device (unless the customer is joining the Teams call from their Smartphone - see above FAQ).
Installing Microsoft Teams is optional, if you choose to do so, it may be faster for next time and you’ll have additional features such as customised background (if your role requires using the Converge supplied background). If you are about to join a meeting and you don’t have Teams installed, defer installing until after the meeting and join via the browser as it may take some time for your device to download and instal the App.
My Microphone and/or Camera is not working in the Teams call
If you join via your web-browser, for the first time you use Microsoft Teams a pop-up will appear asking for permission to access the Microphone and/or Camera. This is normal behaviour and is required for Microsoft Teams to use the Microphone and Camera via your browser. You’ll need the computer password and/or administrative password to grant access - if you have a BYO device, contact your own IT support for help.
Zoom
Converge does not yet have an integration with Zoom and cannot add meetings to your Zoom account. If you select Zoom, you will need to create a Zoom meeting link yourself and send the meeting link to the client.
If you select Zoom, remember to create a meeting in your Zoom app and send the meeting link and info to the client directly.
